Friday May 23

GREENFIELD - The Greenfield Historical Society, along with the Recreation Department will have a presentation by Rob Hannings, baseball historian. Mr. Hannings will be talking baseball with a local flair. He will also share a collection of hundreds of vintage and present day items; town teams and more! The public is invited to this presentation which begins at 7:00pm in the Peter Wensberg room at the Greenfield Library. From 6:30-7:00pm the Historical Society will hold their annual business meeting. Refreshments will be served. Please contact 547-2108 for more information.

Saturday May 24

ANTRIM - Recreation Allies, a project of Under One Roof, is teaming up with Antrim Recreation Department for an afternoon trip to Twinkle Town Mini Golf. This trip is appropriate for all mini golfers ages 14 and older. The bus leaves Antrim Town Hall at 3:30 and returns at 6:30. Pre registration is required. BENNINGTON - All are welcomed to the 10:30 AM service at the Bennington Congregational Church, with Pastor Bob Ritchie. The Battle Hymn of the Republic will be sung by the Men’s Choir. Monday May 26

HENNIKER - Town of Henniker Memorial Day Parade at 11am. Any Henniker resident who is a Veteran is encouraged to march with us. Or, we will give you a ride. If you would like a ride call Steve Burritt at 428-7066. Your uniform doesn’t have to fit - you can wear civilian clothes. Meet at the school at 10:45 AM for 11:00 start. The parade begins at the Henniker
Community School and goes to the Town Hall and then back to the Community Park on Main Street.
KEENE - The Keene VFW will sponsor the Memorial Day Parade beginning at 10am and ending with the laying of the wreath.

Tuesday May 27

WASHINGTON - The Washinton Rescue Squad is sponsoring Drugs & Kids, a program about drugs for parents, grandparents, and community members. The presentation will cover the signs and symptoms of drug use and include the paraphernalia associated with drug use. Presenter: Lisa A. Remick, a senior special agent with the Department of Justice. It will talke place at the Camp Morgan Lodge at 7pm. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is invited to come.

HILLSBOROUGH - All are welcome to join the Monadnock Herbal Society at 7pm at Fox Forest, Center Road in Hillsborough for our annual herbal plant swap. Bring identified plants to swap. This is free to the public, refreshments will be served.
HOPKINTON - Attend the “Legal Issues: Are You Prepared?” program. UNH Cooperative Extension is offering the seminar from 6-8pm at the Slusser Senior Center. Pre-registration is required. HILLSBOROUGH - Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Scramble to Raise Money for Scholarships. It’s TEE TIME!!! This year’s event will be held at Crotched Mountain Golf Club. Last year’s golf scramble raised enough money to award two $1500 scholarships which will be awarded at the High School Awards Ceremony in June. Registration is $100 per player and includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart, free driving range balls, breakfast & lunch, prizes, on-course golf contests, Fantasy Golf and a chance at getting a hole-in-one and winning a new Arctic Cat donated by Livingston’s Arctic Cat. HENNIKER - Don’t miss the 6th Annual Mary’s Run at 9:30 a.m. Held every year in memory of Mary Coffin, the event will begin at the Henniker Community School in downtown Henniker. Entry fee is $15 if pre-registered by May 23, or $20 on race day. T-Shirts are available to everyone registered by May 15. WASHINGTON - The Washington Historical Society and the New Hampshire Humanities Council will feature WWII New Hampshire - The War at Home. Lawrence Douglas, Plymouth State University, will present a video documentary look at life in NH during the 40’s and the war’s impact on citizens lives and actions. HILLSBOROUGH, UPPER VILLAGE - Stroll around the green of historic Hillsborough Center to find displays by 30 local artist members of the Hillsborough Area Artisans (HAA) and invited guest artists at the Spring into Summer Faire on Saturday and Sunday, June 14-15, 10 – 4. Farmers Markets

HANCOCK - The Hancock Farmers Market will be open every Saturday from 9am-noon for the rest of the summer. Fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, baked goods, plants, maple syrup, honey specialty foods and arts & crafts. The market is located on Main Street behind the church in the horse sheds.

CONTOOCOOK - The Slusser Center cooks up a Noon luncheon every Wednesday for a suggested donation of $3.
HOPKINTON - American Red Cross Swim Lessons will once again held at Kimball Pond. The classes will be for children ages 4 years or older and will include four levels taught at various times. Cost is $35 per two-week session and sessions run from Monday through Thursday with Friday as a make-up day if a class is cancelled. HOPKINTON - Hopkinton Recreation continues to have the Adult Volleyball League. Every Sunday from 7pm - 9pm at the Hopkinton High School. All levels welcomed must be 18 years of age or older. This is free fun league!
HOPKINTON - Hopkinton Summer Day Camp is again being offered. Last year’s camp was a complete success with more than 200 campers during the seven weeks! The camp is for youth ages 6 through 12 years and will include seven one-week sessions beginning June 30th and ending August 15th (no camp on Friday, July 4th). Activities will include arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor games, swimming, weekly field trips, special events and safe fun for everyone. HOPKINTON - The British Soccer Camp is back by popular demand! Last year’s camp attracted more than 80 youngsters as the coaches from England helped every participant fine tune their soccer skills, while keeping all entertained. Camp will be held July 28 through August 1 and will include full- and half-day sessions with a mini-session for the young ones. KEENE - The Keene Senior Center at 70 Court Street is offering a community knitting get-together every Friday from 1-3. This is a drop-in group who knits and crochets, and just enjoys each others’ company. Yarn, needles, hooks, patterns and supplies are provided free of charge to those who knit for charity. PETERBOROUGH - See 105 Great Things at the Peterborough Historical Society until May 23rd. We selected one thing collected for each year of the Society’s history to explore our history. These 105 things tell us how people live, worked, learned and built a community. Fees are $3/adult, members and children under 12 are free. The exhibit is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10am to 4pm at 16 Grove Street.
